hey all. i have been on the hunt for a child gate that i can use to separate my kitchen from my living room. and i have a dog too, so it would be nice if it works for him, so i can leave him in the kitchen. and i need a gate that is about 8 feet or more long. please help. THank you

wont work on a dog as it doesnt lock to the wall

Question by fortune_snookies: Outdoor Pet Gates?
I live in an upstairs apartment. I want to find a gate that I can use to block the stairs. They are cement stairs with railing. I want something that I could use at the top to keep my dog from going down the stairs. Does anyone know a type of gate that I could use? It would prefer it to be free standing or not require any bolting that would destroy the property.

i was sat down watching tele with my dog at my feet and next door has 2 yorkshire terriers and i saw my dog jump up and dive on one, its the ladies fault next door that they got through because earlier in the week they got into my back garden and i told her that they muist be getting through the fence. anyway my dog maulded it and chucked it around, i got her off and the took the yorkshire terrier to the vets myself with the lady next door, and my dog and crushed the dogs insides, didnt pierce the skin with a bite anywhere it was all internal that caused the death. and as sorry as i am that the dog died i am now told that i have to get rid of my dog by my housing assocciation within 7 days. the police told me it is not my fault the fault is with the lady next door for not keeping her dog under control and to stop them from wondering. my housing assocciation knew i had the dog when i moved there but are now saying i can control it, my dog has never bite anyone or anything before outside the home never mind in it but shes always been a bit tempremental, but i control her. i have 8 foot gates where she is outside and i never risk anyone or anything going by her, better to be safe than sorry, but i cannot understand why the housing assocciation are telling me that my dog is a threat and i have to rehouse her or ill get evicted. my dog was in my house, yeah im sorry that it killed next doors dog and its bothered me loads but next door let them come into my home. how could i of avoided the situation? if my dog got out and went into hers fair enough id exceot that but she was in my house, most dogs would do the same. i dont know what else to do cause i dont think i should have to rehome her when next doors dog came into my house?
my back was left open cause of the weather not sure how her dogs got out i pressume she left hers open too. and the eight feet fence is to the side of the house where my dog is kept when shes outside (its like a yard at the side). next doors dog came through the back garden. i have been to the police and they have said im not at blame as my dog was in my house and it was not my fault, it was the ladies next door. i just want know if my hoa can do what they are trying to?
sorry iv only just clicked in what people are saying about the 8foot fence. my back door goes into my back garden that was left open but i have a dog gate that i put up. when my dog is outside she goes in the side yard from my side door of my house. with her dogs being small the fitted through the gaps of the dog gate. i took the dog to the vets and i did pay the consultation fee. my neighbour has agreed that her dogs got out and came into my home. (see there was two that came in, but my dog got one the other we got out).
